Dear Writers,
Here are the useful vocab lists you will need. They will be constantly updated as we add to them.
1. This is a list of the words we are teaching in the course. Vocab will only be added to this list once it has been 'finalized', ie been approved by the content editor (that's me!) There may be changes after Randi has reviewed it.
You might want to refer to it occasionally to make sure you don't re-teach the same items.
2. This is the Longman 3000 frequency list. I have highlighted all the words taught in Courses 1-3 in green and words taught in Course 4 (ours) in yellow. Of course this list is not 100% accurate for several reasons: 1. human error (duh!), 2. some words don't appear on the word list for courses 1-3, yet they do appear in the online course (eg relative pronouns, prepositions, adverbs of time etc), 3. I didn't always pick up on the fact that a word might have been taught as part of a phrase or collocation, eg. I had no idea. The word idea didn't appear on the list, but the phrase did, 4. I may have highlighted the right word, but wrong part of speech by accident eg last = adv, determiner, n, or verb!
It shouldn't matter too much as this list is meant as a general guide for you - once you have come up with a word list, check it against this.
3. This is the academic frequency list. I have highlighted all the words taught in our Course 4 in yellow, as I did in the Longman list. Here and there, when I recognized words taught in Courses 1-3, I highlighted them in green, like before. However, I didn't feel it necessary to go through it all with a fine toothcomb. Note that a lot of the words from this list also appear on the Longman. It's great if some of these words appear on your word lists - they are 'ultra'-useful!
4. This is a chart of the strategies you have chosen to focus on in your respective modules. I will keep updating it as soon as I know which strategies you are planning to write about, so please check the chart to make sure there is no overlap with your fellow writer....
